okay so im only 13 (f) but i really like, no, LOVE rap songs. not songs that like you cant make out the words and they sing really fast, but like the song "Low". Whenever my older brother plays his i pod i love to sing and dance to all of his kewl songs but he just calls me a dork. none of my other friends like the same kind of songs. Should i try to like the other songs or should i just listen to my songs when im alone?
Your older brother calls you a dork because he's your older brother. I have one of those, too, and I was always a dork in his opinion. That's just brothers for you.
If your friends are really your friends, they won't judge you by your choice in music. They accept that you like rap and they don't.
uisforukelele answered Monday March 3 2008, 10:42 pm: Listen to the music you like. Don't limit yourself to just one genre. When I was your age, I listened to all kinds of stuff that my friends had never even heard of. They were just into like Britney Spears and boy bands. Now, they've started listening to the music that I've been listening to all along. So your musical taste will change naturally over time, but don't listen to certain kinds of music just because your friends think it's cool. Cassiopea answered Monday March 3 2008, 10:32 pm: never try to be someone you aren't. If you like to listen to rap you should and actually a lot of people I know like rap so you aren't that different. Besides you might have something in common with guys and get pretty good relationships with them. [ Cassiopea's advice column | Ask Cassiopea A Question ]

You shouldn't have to hide the fact that you listen to hip-hop and if other people don't want you to listen to it, that's their problem. I personally don't like rap, but I'm certainly not going to bring you down for listening to it. Just be respectful of all different genres because, as you've learned here, everybody has different tastes. Music = Expression [ xlovexx463's advice column | Ask xlovexx463 A Question ]
