Problem with that is, if you have a really good IT department at your school (like mine does) I think they subscribe to it, too, and block all the new ones.
If your school is that strict with their website blocking, maybe it's not worth the consequences of accessing a restricted site, just to check your friend requests. If you need to access, say, email, and you have a really good reason, administrators can usually un-block it for you if you ask very nicely. [ LM's advice column | Ask LM A Question ]
