Also, with pills (I know you were asking about the patch, but is probably true with the patch as well) there is usually a diuretic in them, which makes you lose water weight. Once again, when you stop taking the medicine, it stops controling your water weight.
Unfortunately, the other person is right. The only way to truly lose weight and keep it off is a good diet and exercise plan.
I always suggest to people to go and get an exercise ball, a jump rope, and hand weights. Use the ball three times a week, jump rope for at least 5 minutes a day for three times a week, and use the weights to walk for 30 minutes a day, three times a week.
With the diet aspect, high protein, low carbs, no sugar, and at least 8 8 ounces of water a day. It is a big challenge at first, but it only takes 30 days for a person to start a habit. After those 30 days, it will be like second nature for you to accomplish this.
I would like to point out something. I had a friend that was put on Phen-Phen, and she ended up losing her life because of it. Even those with medical degrees and have good intentions, screw up sometimes. Most of the diet pills, patches, and whatever do not have a license in their field. That is why it is never usually FDA approved. Remember, you only have one body and you do not want to chance losing your life because of someone else's drug that is not approved.
I wish you the best of luck, and hopefully you can find a new peace in your life with your diet and exercise. Repeat to yourself daily that you are beautiful, loved, and worth living no matter what you look like. If others do like it, they can eat your dust. ;) [ AngelofMercy's advice column | Ask AngelofMercy A Question ]
Sima answered Thursday February 28 2008, 9:30 pm: No patch, pill, cream, or tea will help you lose weight permanently. The weight that you lose is only temporary [about 1-2 weeks] and is easily regained within a short period of time. The only way to lose weight permanently is by good ol' fashioned diet and exercise. Start cutting back on your sugar/fat/carbs intake, lessen your portions, and fit in 30 minutes of exercise every day at the least. It's not that hard, you just need motivation to keep going.
