Meditation

Question Posted Friday February 22 2008, 8:49 pm

What is Christian Meditation? I want to know more about it because I heard that it brings you closer to Jesus. Also, what does it mean to "meditate on a scripture"? Is it literal? Thanks

Christian Meditation can be defined as, in my words, the communion between oneself and the holy spirit. Although I'm not entirely sure I can describe it, the best possible way for someone to truly understand how the spirit is present in their lives is to pray to God to show them.

After this is done, well, Christian Meditation is supposed to be done every single moment of a Christians life; it allows the person to know what the will of the Holy Father is and his duty for this life.

As to meditate on scripture, well, it's basically when one, with the aid of the Holy Spirit, meditates on the Scripture, and thus receiving the knowledge Jesus imparted to his apostles at the time of his death.

This can be seen, taken in a biblical context, how nearly at the time of his death, Jesus told his apostles why it was necessary for him to die. He said he needed to die so that the Holy Spirit may come in the future as his "counselor" so that each and every one of us, without the aid of a living Jesus, may be enlightened by it and may be able to decipher what the messages inside the Bible truly mean.

If it is of any help, this website is truly helpful if you decide to look up more information in a Catholic related way: www.newadvent.com/

I truly hope I could serve you

i don't think there's really a christian meditation it's just meditation. What it is, ism to clear your mind and block out all the unwanted noise so you can hear your thoughts. As for the "meditate on the scripture" all you need to do is maybe read it and try to break it down by thinking about it through meditation or just pure thought, no need to think on it too hard otherwise you might read it the wrong way you know? just takes time and patience After all we're only human anyway, hope this helps.
