Hair falling out

Question Posted Friday February 22 2008, 6:32 pm

I am a sixteen year old female, and for about three years now my hair has been falling out pretty bad. I used to dye my hair but I don't anymore because I am trying to get it back to the way it used to be before I started dying it. I also straighten my hair but very rarely and when I do I have a protective spray that I use so it doesn't get as damaged. I use Pantene Pro V shampoo and conditioner and when I shower my hair falls out really bad. I don't know if it's due to the shampoo or what. I also heard that hair falls out because of stree and I suppose I am a pretty stressful person considering I have very many family problems and I struggle to keep up with school work because I have always been a straight A student. I really dislike my hair falling out because it's usually all over my clothing and such.

1) Can stress play a part in hair loss?
2) What shampoo strenghtens hair and is good for hair loss?
3) Is there anything else I can do to strenghten my hair?

I have the same problem, but, ALOT of mine does. Like, it's really noticable. 1) Yes. That's one of the main causes that mine does. [But, I have a disease called Alopetia Areota, and it's a hairloss desease. You might want to go to a dermotoligist and have your hair checked out. I have to get injections for mine, but, they don't hurt.]
2)I use the same kind you do. It's good for your hair, but, they have Rogaine shampoos that help get your hair back. 3) Um, I'd try deep conditioning. [Ha ha I need to too.]
I really hope I helped. I know how stressfull that can be. [Which doesn't make it any better.]

i had the same problem so i went to the doctors, which took a blood test to see if something was wrong or if i had an iron deficiency. this could be what's wrong with you and i suggest going to the doctors. also, make sure you're not wearing your hair too tight or pulling at your hair without noticing.
other than that, just look for a shampoo such as garnier that says that it strengthens hair.
to relieve stress try yoga or working out, running, etc... i could help
