Actually, some of the first symptoms of HIV/AIDS are:

Weightloss
Sores in mouth
Sore throat
Swollen glands
Night sweats

Sometimes no symptoms appear, sometimes only one will appear, and sometimes all symptoms will appear.

Oral gonorrhea also has a sore throat symptom, by the way.

You have the throat issues that we know of, which may mean absolutely nothing, but it's best to be on the safe side, don't you think?

If you have reasoning to believe you may have been with a partner that could have possibly transmitted something to you then it's in your best interest to get tested.
At any case, a swollen throat for three weeks should be checked out by a professional--as it could be an infection.
