I smoke marijuana and cigarettes, and I'm about to get on birth control.
I know that smoking on birth control is bad, and it increases risks of heart attack, I'm 16 years old btw. I was just wondering does it change the effectiveness of birth control. Like will it not work as well if I smoke while I'm on it.

Cherry_Blow_Pop answered Wednesday February 20 2008, 2:41 pm: Smoking just increases your chances of getting blood clots, which can and has caused people to have strokes, even at young ages. be careful though because blood clots on birth control are common as it is.
Rosie2000 answered Wednesday February 20 2008, 10:52 am: Well. now your going to get mixed answers. my doctor told me that the nictine reduces the estrogen in your body. and since the birthcontorl is hormones it makes it less effective. she gave me more statistics and big words.. but thats what she told me. so.. i guess if your going to smoke your just going to take more risks all around.
