Lift one leg in an "L" shape, the sole of your foot flat as if you could push against the ceiling. Keep your back straight and relaxed. Pretend that you're balancing a book on the sole of your foot. Push that book towards the ceiling in sets of eight. Contract your butt muscles as you do it. You should feel it pretty quickly in your gluteal muscles. Don't bring your knee lower than your hip, keep a straight line with your leg and back. Do a set of eight slowly, then another set of eight quickly--just little pulses. Wooohoo, you will FEEL it! Add a few reps every day. Keep your neck relaxed and in a straight line with your back.
Repeat with the other leg!!
K-sorry, guess I wasn't responsive to your question. So, my answer is no; doing the up and down on your toes isn't going to help your butt. If you can't FEEL the exercise in the muscle you're trying to work, then you need to do something else. So give my suggestion a go! [ cookie8888's advice column | Ask cookie8888 A Question ]
