Laptop Problems
I bought a Compaq Presario a little over a year ago. It was working great until a little while ago..Now, sometimes when I turn it on, it doesn't boot. The machine runs but the screen just stays black.
I've been told that it'd work if I took the battery out, but the problem persists sometimes even when I turn it on with the battery taken out.
My warranty expired already, as well as the over-the-phone tech support. So is anyone out there that can tell me what the problem is?

i too had the same issue. i had mine fixed at the geek squad located in best buy. it took them a few weeks, but they found out the hard drive was bad and had to replace it. i was lucky and had it done for free because of the warranty. after that, i just used my recovery disc and now its fine. so it wouldnt hurt to call the geek squad, they could take a look and let ya know how much it would cost you. if its way too much, i would just save up for a new laptop
