what is the HOOK of a song?

theres the chorus, verses, and the other parts but whats the hook in detail?

You have the verse, the chorus and the melody then you have the "solo" like when the guitar whines out the tune or the drummer kicks in the beat. Usually the hook doesn't have any vocals.
