virginity

Question Posted Wednesday February 6 2008, 9:49 pm

ok...so, like, i was thinking the other day, when your cherry is popped does that mean your virginity is gone?

and i dont mean gone by sex. like maybe by tampons or masterbating or fingering? like if its popped because a tampon did it or something and someone says "are you a virgin?" do you say "no, because i have never had sex." or do you say "yes, because my hymen is gone?"

im a very random person and this has been annoying me, so yeah.

Virginity isnt an intact hymen. Virginity is a reference to purity, it means you dont understand the desire for sex from experience.

Technically to still be a virgin you havent had sex, so since your hymen isnt broken by having sex you're still a virgin.

if you have never had sexual intercourse, you are a virgin.

if your hymen is gone/broken/whatever, it does not play into the virginity thing. you can still be a virgin if your hymen is damaged, like from a tampon. if your hymen is damaged by a male reproductive organ, then that would be different.

so here's an example scenario:
person A has never had sex but uses tampons and may possibly have a damaged hymen.

person B says, "are you a virgin?"
person A says, "yes, because i have never had sexual intercourse. however, my hymen is damaged, which is actually more information than i should ever tell anybody in casual conversation."
