Is it serious?

Question Posted Monday February 4 2008, 8:47 pm

Um when i get scared, anxiety, really nervous, etc my hands are liek frozen. (I guess because when I'm scared my blood runs cold, literally?).

I know it isn't normal but I don't know if there's a name for it if it is a serious problem or disease.

My dad wants it checked and some of my friends think that it's freaky lol especially when it happens during the summer when it's blazing hot but I dunno..even though you know something's bad going on, I like the coldness.

Does anyone might know of what it is? thanks.

It's not something you will die from so relax ;) It's a symptom you are experiencing because of anxiety, nervousness etc. that isn't present at any other time.

As long as it only occurs under those circumstances there's no real health concern. The thing you need to treat isn't a problem with your hands at all. You need to treat the anxiety problem and all these physical symptoms will fade.

You might have a mild to moderate anxiety disorder/problem that you should talk to a psychiatrist about and see if there's medicine that will curb it. What you are experiencing is likely the byproduct of that and just an annoying symptom. I've been there, done that so thats what I'm basing this on: experience.

I know circulation issues can cause your hands to get cold. Perhaps your anxieties are causing strange occurrences with your blood flow. See the doctor like your dad says, and in the meantime try to stay relaxed.
When you feel your nerves start freaking out, try calming techniques like meditation to help ease your stress.
