If you have a tinea infection (there are multiple tinea infections such as tinea corporus and tinea capitis... and many others) you would need some sort of antifungal. If you have impetigo you would need an antibiotic. This is just a small list of examples.
If you believe your lesions are just caused by dryness, try a dandruff shampoo as the other person who answered you suggested. If it does not work in a week or so, or gets worse, I recommend seeing your physician for an actual diagnosis and treatment. [ familyfirst's advice column | Ask familyfirst A Question ]
ciao77 answered Thursday January 31 2008, 1:35 am: That is probably caused by dryness and irritation, and maybe some scratching. It might also be caused by dandruff, and if so, try using Head and Shoulders shampoo- the one that is called "Dry Scalp."
Use a very gentle shampoo. You could even consider buying an all natural, organic shampoo at a health food store like Trader Joe's. That way, you will know that your scalp will not become irritated. If you don't want to use an organic shampoo, I'd say go for something like Head and Shoulders, or even Neutrogena Clean shampoo, or baby shampoo.. Avoid shampoos that have harsh fragrances or chemicals, as they will further irritate your scalp. [ ciao77's advice column | Ask ciao77 A Question ]
