well, the slaughters, themselves.
are they taught how to do it correctly?
and do they get paid alottttt?
shouldn't you be arrested if you do it incorrectly or something? :( i just want a job to stop the pain for them, i think about it alot and start to cry.
its alright if you dont know.
i just figured you knew alot about the topic.

To be totally honest I know more about animal living conditions rather than the slaughter itself. I actually went online and tried to research a bit since your first question went on. My results were inconclusive.

First I found numerous texts claiming that the Islamic or Kosher way was painless. All of them were written by religious leaders with the exception of one which was written by a Muslim society of some kind. I always look with great scepticism on texts written by those who have in interest in the results.

Then I found some places claiming the opposite. However I found no scientific studies.

In regards to our methods of slaughter, there are many issues in regards to the extent of pain caused (and also the extent of suffering in the transportation and handling prior to slaughter).

Here are two links I found. The first outlines issues with all methods of slaughter in brief. The second talks about horrors of industrial/ factory farming.

Edit: Almost forgot about your main question. Yes, the people are taught how to do it "correctly" by whatever defintion... whether its religious or otherwise. However there is no significant penalty for mistakes. You have to understand that in our society animals do not have many rights. In most cases they are treated solely as property, and legally they are no different than a car or a piece of land.

I know that some headway has been made, but it is totally minimal. I just read one article talking about how some welfare concessions were approved, on the basis that they discovered it improved the quality of the meat. There you can see the outlook many of these people have. They do not care that these are sentient beings that feel pain in the same way as you or I, they care about the quality of the meat.

Well anyways it is a pretty depressing topic. Dont beat yourself up too much though, it wont do anyone any good. Just remember our history is filled with this kind of discrimination and double ethical standards. But, progress has been made slowly over the years so it is not impossible that one day this may extend to animals too.

Good luck.
