It depends on which fat they mean..
You can spell fat two different way there fat as in like You look so fat!
Or phat as in you look cool or awesome .there are too different ones.

It depends which tone of voice they were using when they said this.
If it was a bragging tone, then yes I assume "fat" is positive.
If not,then no- I would consider "fat" to be unpleasant.
