If you aren't allowed to bring a recorder (which I doubt will be a problem), you can always bring your lap top to take notes. You will get more of what the professor is saying.
Honestly, don't be scared. As long as you do pay attention and read you should be fine. Colleges usually have places where you could go so that you could get help too.

This way, you have a way to review everything that was said during class. It would even come in handy to transfer the files to an MP3 player and listen to it while you are doing other tasks. This way, you can learn it and remember it. I would ask your dean at high school if it would be okay to take a tape recorder into the class for study notes. It wouldn't hurt to ask, and if you get permission instead of just going in and doing it without permission, you won't get into trouble. Good Luck!!
