Bed Room Help.

Question Posted Monday January 21 2008, 1:47 pm

14turning15.Female.
Okay, my room was just painted this summer a nice sky blue.. it's really bight and I like it. But I want something to take the blue back a couple notches because right when you walk in it's like "wow.. it's blue." My birthday's coming up Febuary and i'll probably be getting like 70 dollars by the family. I don't wanna repaint.
I hear that there's this magnetic paint and that sounds soo cool. And I want to make a murale on my biggest wall. I saw it on this movie and this kids whole wall was covered in posters and just random stuff and it looked awesome. My parents will let me paint as long as it's suddle. I have extra yellow pant from my living room and I could like get stamps or whatever of stars and make a banner around the top ofmy wall or something. My theme is Blue.. Carebears and Tinkerbell. I love them all lol. I don't have a lot of money but I want someting diffrent.
Anything cheep you know about or what not

Thanksss

In my experience of designing I think it's all about curtains. The mood of your bedroom always depends on the kind of curtains you have. As for the mural it sounds like a really good idea. The stencils however sound kind of outdated and a bit too much. I think you should leave your blue walls plain. My brother has sky blue walls too and it's not bad at all. I love his room because he has all kinds of science and astronomy posters around his room.

A mural would be a really good idea for two reasons. One, it would become the focus of the walls, as opposed to HOLY BATMAN THAT'S A BLUE WALL! Second, it's easily moved and/or taken down once you get tired of it.

I've heard that magnetic paint isn't very strong unless you put a LOT of coats, and that it's expensive. But I won't say for sure, it might be really cheap now. Painting a pattern on (or stenciling) would accent the room, but if you get tired of it, it may be a bit difficult to cover up without primer and the like.

Lastly, try some different-colored lightbulbs. If you have soft yellow light now, try white. Or vice-versa. There's these bulbs I had once that were blueish and they made natural sunlight. The made everything look really different & cool. So next time the bulbs burn out, try something like that.

Have fun!

Maybe you could get some of those plastic wall stickers. My mom bought some for my brother, and they are really cheap. They have tinkerbell and her fairy friends and some others. You can get them at walmart for, like, 10 bucks.
