As said before me, unless it specifies first morning's urine in the directions, any time of day is fine.
No, you don't want to drink a bunch of fluid. That dilutes your urine. You just want a normal, everyday, bladder evacuation.
familyfirst answered Wednesday January 9 2008, 6:01 pm: Some tests claim you can use them at any time of the day. I have done this, used them morning or even late afternoon and they have always been correct.
That being said, the reason some require "first morning's urine" is because the test is looking for elevated levels of a hormone called hCG or human chorionic gonadotropin. This is elevated in pregnancy and elevates a little more with each passing day. It is most concentrated in the urine when you have not urinated all night. During the day you are drinking and urinating more frequently therefore diluting the hormone concentration.
If the test says it can be used at any time of day, you are probably ok. If it calls for first morning's urine, you should do that. It has been my experience that following the directions, I never had an incorrect result. [ familyfirst's advice column | Ask familyfirst A Question ]
