The babies might have died because she is so young. I would call Petsmart. They usually have a store vert that will take in the sick animal you bought and care for them. That's why they ar vet certified. If not, calling a vet might be hard because most vets can't treat small animals. Most small animals are too small to be operated on or diagnosed. But you can try.

As for carign for the mother, i would let her be for a few days so she can clean herself up. Feed her oranges and romaine lettuce to help her vitamin intake. Even after she's better, keep giving the oranges because need the Vitamin C.

i work in a pet store and we sell these baby tiny turtles. Most commonly they are red eared sliders. These turtles will not make a 9 hour drive. They are very sensitive and easily killed. In my personal experience i tried to do the same thing as you and when we got home we had fried turtles. What i would try and do is maybe ask around and see if soemone would ship them to you. or check in pet shops where you live. Good luck if you end up taking one home.
