Makeup Virgin! I'm 23 years old and I've never worn make up. I use a little lip gloss here and there, but that really isn't considered 'makeup'. My mom never wore it and I guess I just wasn't interested in it. I am now. I don't even know where to begin! Any help would be appreciated!!

I would suggest going to a department store, Macy's Nordstrom etc. and just have them do your makeup, and more importantly, show you how to do your makeup. Products I would reccommend right away are m.a.c., bare minerals, stila, but it all depends on your style. If you know where there's a sephora store nearby, I would go there. They have a very wide selection on all kinds of makeup and skincare. I learned by having a professional do my makeup, then I bought the products and practiced. Good luck, hope I helped! ~Love Angel ]
Go to Sephora! The workers there are life savers, they know everything and will do their best to help you- even if you don't know where to start (:
If you have good skin (not blotchy, no acne, etc), you probably don't need concealer. If you have some redness or dry skin- a tinted moisturizer such as this in your colour would be perfect:

and a bronzer such as this would make your face glow- you can't go wrong with bronzers!:

the brand Bare Essentials is also one that won't mess up your skin, it actually helps keep it clear
As for mascara and eyeliner I recommend Sephora's brand eyeliner:

it's super cheap, and amazing.
Mascara can be expensive- you honestly don't need to get a good brand for that though. For example, Maybelline Great Lash can be found at any drug store and lots of people use that one.
As for eyeshadow, that's something you would ask sephora or any makeup section at a department store, they'll tell you what colours are best for you (: Hope I helped

Go to a drugstore. The basics are eyeliner, mascara, lipgloss and possibly blush and/or eyeshadow.
Just because something is cheap, it doesn't mean it's bad. I wouldn't go into MAC or Sephora yet.
I use this eyeliner:

It comes out very dark instead of other eyeliners I've used. Maybe it's just from my experience but other eyeliners, I have to press hard to get it to show and it barely did.
What color eyes do you have?
Purple and green eyeliner OR eyeshadow really bring out brown eyes.
Light purple, pink or orange eyeshadow goes well with blue eyes.
Deep purple/lavender, dark browns or dark greens with copper/gold look great with green eyes. [I also think Silver looks good, IMO]
You can always go out with your friends and have them show you how to apply certain things. Learn a few tricks from them. They could also help you buy things. I did this for my friend.
maybelline is good for mascara.

If you need foundation and powder. I think Loreal is good for coverage. I use a "natural" color though so it blends into my skin really well. I also use a powder to set it. It looks really natural and not so caked on. You probably need a friend with you when you're picking out foundation. If that's not an option, go to Macy's and find the makeup department. I'm sure someone working there can do your makeup for you or you can try things on your own. MAC can do your makeup for you but I've never been in there and I think it must cost a lot.
Good brands are Maybelline, Loreal, Covergirl and Revlon. ]

I know that sounds a bit extreme, but the truth is that makeup is different for each person. They want different things and use it differently. Make an appointment with a professional, they can teach you how to apply things properly and what will give you what you want. You don't need to buy everything they suggest of course. Buy one or two decent lipsticks and pick up the drugstore equivalent of everything else.
When me and my sisters were young and first showed an interest in makeup my mother whisked us off right away to a stylist friend of hers. At the time I thought it was a little silly, but I've used the techniques she taught me to this day, I've shared them with others, and I've cringed when I saw some of my friends make beginner mistakes.
So start asking around for a good beautician and treat yourself to hour or so in their company. ]
