building residency for an out of state college.. hi! im planning on transferring to a public college in illinois. i currently don live in illinois and i attend college in my home state. but i was wondering how long i would have to live there to get in state tuition? or if i go there and pay out of state tuition for one year, then the 2nd year commute from an apartment i buy in illinois, will i be able to get in state tuition?
im sorry this is so confusing but if you guys have any experience or anything with this that would be great! =]

You'd be better off if you asked them personally. They can give you all the juicy details. I attended a public university in Texas that was a few miles from a state line. We had folks go there from out of state but then again it's all to do with your ability to pay. For financial aid, the requirements vary college to college, state to state. You might want to consider looking in to a scholarship too. Ask the counselor what they have and if you qualify. Any amount would help if you are desperate enough to attend. ]
