Quest to permanent weight loss

Question Posted Tuesday December 25 2007, 11:35 pm

Like the title says.

I'm obese, well not really sure about that, maybe just a bit overweight. I weigh 140-145 pounds... I have one of those scales where you have to read off the little ticks, and sometimes it says 140 and sometimes it says 145, pretty inaccurate. I'm 5'3 or somewhere around there, maybe a bit taller since the last time I checked was 2 years ago [17 atm].

My goal is 130 lbs maybe 125 lbs, not 120 like the BMI says, only because my friend is 130 and she looks perfectly normal. And I also want to fit into a size 'medium'/'small' (depends on the store).

I do not have a huge problem with junk food, except that I have chocolate cravings (gotta love chocolate). I usually have eggs or a bagel for break fast, noodles or soup with crackers for lunch, and rice with some sort of meat whether it be chicken, pork, beef or fish for dinner + vegetables.

However I do need a fitness regime (what to do, amount of time, etc), I don't have access to a gym or any gym equipment. But I do have a puppy if he counts for anything.

I would also like a time frame for me to achieve my goal so I don't bum around, & so it gives me motivation to lose the weight.

<3claire;
P.S This is not only for appearance but also for a healthier future

Im not good with foods. But I play sports, and my grandpap is a fitness person. Take your puppy for walks!!! Or take him jogging with you. Its a fact that people that walk their dogs everyday, lose more weight then the people that dont. So take him for about an hour walk close to everyday, or 5 days a week. Go running, jogging, speed walking for about 45mins to an hour. Dont do the same thing everytime, bc when your body will get use to it, and it will stop losing as much calories it was. So switch up each time. When watching tv, do sit ups, or jumping jacks between breaks. I hope I helped!!

1. You're not obese; just slightly overweight. Assuming you're 5"3 and around 143 lbs., then you have a BMI 25.3. You're only obese if your BMI is 30 or higher. So that makes things a little bit better. : )

2. Here's my personal guide:

a. FOOD RESTRICTIONS: Eat several small meals about FIVE times a day. Make sure that when you have carbs (pasta, rice, etc.) that it's ONE OUNCE. That's about the size of a fist. SHOP AT NATURAL FOOD STORES or in the NATURAL FOOD AISLE. That means foods with little or no added sugar, no high fructose corn syrup (ever!), no trans fats, and no sat fat EXCEPT for dairy and meat items that naturally have sat fat. Your dinner is fine. Lunch: For your soup, make it CHUNKY VEGGIE soup (no corn syrup) and THREE Saltines. Breakfast: Is bad now. Try TWO egg whites and ONE piece of toast. Snack: Try a fruit smoothie that you can make with a blender YOURSELF with NO ADDED SUGAR with fruits like strawberries, blueberries, etc. You are alloted some chocolate. Try having one of those little Ghiradeli (sp?) chocolates when you have a craving. But just one, and one only at a maximum of once every two days.

b. EXERCISE: Walks, 20 min. after dinner and 15 min. before/after breakfast. Try some aerobic moves for about 20 min. or so after work (aerobic DVDs are available and not too expensive.)

c. TIPS: When drinking juice, have 6 oz. of juice and 2 oz. of water COMBINED to cut calories. Dancing. Go out dancing with friends, but bring a healthy snack with you since there is NO FAST FOOD ALLOWED, including McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Chili's, Applebee's, TGI Friday's, and wherever else. Also, NO ALCOHOL. I know you're like 17 and underage, but just making sure.

d. TIME FRAME: January 3rd to February 5th to be 130 pounds.

Good luck. If you ever need any advice on your diet or help feel free to message me.
