familyfirst answered Monday December 17 2007, 8:43 pm: The reason it is best to drink lots (meaning at least 8 eight oz glasses a day) is because one way to get healthy is to clear out your blood stream and "pee" out the bad stuff.
Liquids dilute and reduce the toxins in the blood stream. However, "liquids" does not mean coffee, tea, soda, or alcohol. It is best to stick with water, fruit juice, and vegetable juice.

You can get sick from drinking too much though.
