Question Posted Sunday December 16 2007, 12:34 pm

If I bought a hoodie at abercrombie a year ago and then brought it back to return it, what would they do? Even if they gave me store credit for not having a reciept? Would they take it?

i doubt that they would let you exchange it because it's pretty likely that the return policy only lasts for 90 days, but you can definitely try. the thing is, they probably don't sell that exact hoodie anymore and couldn't put it back on their shelves- so it would be useless to them.

I just checked the website and it says:

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, return it to us for an exchange or refund. We exchange or refund any original condition merchandise with a copy of your original invoice. If the item was purchased at the store, it must be returned at a store. Please do not send merchandise that was purchased at one of our store locations for return. Our Distribution Center cannot process any store returns. Your package will be returned to you.

Since it doesn't give a specific time frame, I assume they'll take all returns. You may as well try, the worst they can say is no :).

It all depends on their return policy, which by law has to clearly visible in the store. Not many stores offer a 365 day return policy. Most of them are 30 or 90 days only, with receipt. Store credit without receipt. Stores know their stock, and they should realize that you are trying to return last years sweater, so I don't think you'll be able to fool them, but it may be worth a shot. Heck they could be so busy, they won't notice. Worse they can say is NO.
