Hate to say it, but I'm with Mom. Not only because with strep, you need plenty of rest, but because it's really, really contagious. It's the kind of thing we have to post exposure notices for at school (I'm a preschool teacher.)

(I do respect your desire to follow through, though-- when I was in youth group, we endlessly had to contend with people who would flake out on stuff like that.)

This is probably an answer too late for you, but here's my answer:

A shower won't get rid of your strep; however, it might relieve the pain a little bit. When you get home from church you should get to a doctor because I can't imagine how much pain you are in with strep. I've only had it once and I felt awful. So I really hope things clear up for you.

A shower probably won't cure it, nothing can but time however drink a lot lot lot of liquids and soup and cough drops. whatever sooths the thraot will help it but it wont cure it. before you go to practice bring water with you or something :]
