Gingerbread houses

What do you use for like frosting on gingerbread houses? (It kinda looks like whipped cream but it hardens)

Also where do you get the eatible paint for them?

Use one of those nifty cake decorating things, the frosting bag with the interchangeable tips. The one that can make roses also can make the edge design you're talking about.
