Photography How to load film on a developing reel?

I am particularly confused in step 4. Does anyone know what that step looks like? I can't figure out how the film is inside the canister and what to cut off and all that.
Step Four:
The film will be taped to the center film spool. Use your scissors to cut the spool off as close to the base of the spool as possible. On the other end of the strip of film is the shaped edge that you use to load film into a camera. Cut that edge off so it is squared. You will only need to snip about 1 inch.
Also, I do not understand step 5. I get how the natural curl of the film should follow the shape of the reel, but how do you know if you're loading it in upside down?
Step Five:
Slide one end of the negative into the opening of the reel (approximately 4 inches) while not touching the surface of the negative. Note the “natural” curl of the film should follow the shape of the reel. Do not attempt to load it upside down.
It would be a great help if anyone knew of visual tutorials somewhere. Thanks guys!

This is a different type of spool than what we used back when I was in photography. We had to take the film from the camera, remove it from the canister by pushing one end of it on the table. The little spool of film should pop right out.
Then we would put the end of the film to the developing spool with a piece of tape and roll onto the spool loosely, then develop.
The top of the film is the shiny side. You will know it is going on the right way, because it is curled. By following the natural curl, you will put the film on the developing spool, shiny side up, in the same direction it is curled.
That may sound more confusing than it really is. :( It is much easier to show someone how to do it than explain it with words.
I searched this and went with youtube. There are other links to instruction videos that may be helpful:
