Question Posted Sunday November 25 2007, 10:56 am

How do you make her cute little figurines?
[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

I have e-mailed her a long time ago but received no response. :(

Her site page says: "All of my sculptures are made using sculpey clay and are painted with acrylics."

So does that mean I can use any color sculpey clay then bake it in the oven (Bad idea? Should I borrow my school's kiln instead?) and then color them with acrylics? I have no background in art so I do not know what order I should do the steps in or what to use.

I also visited her DeviantArt [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) but to no avail. I would like to make little figures for my friends on Christmas! Thanks in advance!

Yeah there's oven bake clay and air dry clay. Just go to a craft store and see what they have.

I think an oven could work. I looked up on a site and it said it won't harden until it's baked at 130 C in an electric oven. I'm not sure if it's safe to use for clay and food though.

So maybe you can ask an art teacher. I was in a clay class back in middle school. You should start off with something simple as a heart as a test and experiment with tools.
I remember using these:

and sponges.

Also if you aren't finished with your work, make sure you put it in a bag and let all of the air out so you can save it for later. you can't leave it for days. I made that mistake and my work harden and water wouldn't help fix the cracks. Air drying works to harden but it still.. it could break easily =/

So put it in the kiln then you color them.
I've only worked with clay, not painting them though.

Well, they make oven-bake clay, that you can use your oven for. They come in a variety of colors, so you wouldnt need to paint them. Or, you can buy plain colored oven bake clay and paint that.
They sell it at most craft stores.
