ok so i met this guy through a friend (a lot of my frends kno him) but we haven't met in person. we've talked online and stuff but i want to meet him.
how should i instigate this?

I think you should talk to your friend, and let he/she know you would like him/her to introduce the two of you. That should work well. =)

Like the person below me said, have your friend invite the two of you over. Despite what you may think, guys are NOT as shallow as people make them out to be. I mean last year I was overweight and I didn't think much of myself, but I started talking to this guy in class because he sat near me and the next thing I knew he liked me and this guy also happened to be the most popular guy in school. Decent guys are NOT shallow. They may act like it with their friends, but in truth they aren't. So don't worry about it. Just be confident, thats beautiful.

You met him through a friend, so I would have that friend properly introduce you.
If he is going to be uninterested because he doesn't think you look good enough, then he isn't worth your time to begin with.
