They almost always will.
-XP-
Pros:
-Everyone uses it
-You are familiar with it
-Nearly everything works on it
-It is very customizable
-All guides are written for it
-Most bugs are worked out of it
-It's pretty stable
Cons:
-It's not pretty by default
-Vista-
Pros:
-Everyone will be using it in 4-6 years
-The interface is familiar and easy to use
-Nearly everything works on it
-It is more customizable than XP
-Guides are now starting to be written for Vista a lot
-It comes with DirectX 10 - which may be needed for the next generation of games
-It's pretty by default
Cons:
-It is much more memory-intensive than XP
-It still has some bugs
-A small number of things that work on XP won't work on Vista
Gamers should stick with XP for the next 4 years. Home users should go with vista when they next buy a new computer. Enthusiasts should stick with XP as long as possible. [ theymos's advice column | Ask theymos A Question ]
