I'm just wondering...do you think I should get an SAT tutor now?

My sophomore year my english teacher signed me up for the PSAT which was offered at our school. Our school offers it every year in October so, if your school is the same, it may have already passed. If not, sign up and take it.That will let you know where you stand. I did okay, somewhere around average or a little above. I took an SAT prep course that my school offered my junior year (We got a credit for it, just like a regular class). I took the psat once again (it was free and available to juniors and sophomores...) and did MUCH better. That January (about 10months ago)I took the actual SAT and did very well.
Your best bet is to take the PSAT to see where you stand. If your school offers SAT prep classes then I'd sign up for that too. It was VERY helpful for me. I wouldn't go for a tutor unless you've taken the practice tests and done badly on them. Unless you've done poorly they aren't worth the money.
Your next step is to figure out what colleges you're interested in, look at the criteria to get in, and take the necessary courses, partake in the clubs, etc.
It's REALLY good that you're already thinking about colleges. If you're smart enough then I also suggest taking honors courses. It will make you look so much better, even if you only get a B in them. I took honors classes my sophomore year and this year I'm taking honors and AP courses. It makes you look really awesome to colleges. I actually regret not taking the honors classes my junior year.
Study hard, concentrate on your acedemics, clubs, etc. Have fun too though. You only get to be a high school student for a short amount of time. Trust me, if I could go back and relive high school I'd do it in a heartbeat. Even with all the drama, fights, annoying teachers, etc.

If you didn't, and don't worry it isn't a crime if you didn't, then you need to take a practice test. Kaplan, Princeton Review, and other test prep facilities offer them for free and they'll give you a score report that tells you what you need to work on. If you score is very low in any area then you should look into a tutor. If your score was above average in all areas you can probably save your money or just buy a book and study on your own.
Next what colleges are you considering? Have you been to any college fairs, searched online, gone to any campus open houses? Some colleges make the SAT's optional if you have a certain GPA. Some colleges prefer the ACT which is a similar test.
