Bootcamp lets you use windows software as if you were just running it on a windows PC. You'll need to buy any operating systems, and the programs to run on them as if you were buying them to install on a PC. Don't quote me, but if you want a legitimate copy of XP, and some programs, you might be just as well off financially buying a really really cheap, crap Windows PC, and using the bundled software on the Mac with bootcamp. Bundled software is often heaps cheaper than buying it standalone.

You probably want this version:

It's pretty much the same price everywhere. OEM versions are cheaper, but include no documentation or support. Home is slightly cheaper than Pro, but is missing a few features. Home will be fine for you, but it's hard to find OEM versions of it. Don't buy OEM versions of "Media Center Edition", you will have a hard time installing it.

XP comes with basic programs like Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, and Windows Media Player, and you can install new ones from the internet.

**SilentOne, buying a computer will never be cheaper than buying a standalone version of windows. If you also want an extra computer, this might be an OK option, though. Note that you can't legally run windows on two computers at once. Also, about half of all computers DO NOT come with the install disk, making it impossible to install on a Mac.**
