retainer problem

Question Posted Sunday November 11 2007, 10:39 am

my retainer (for my teeth) on the bottom, has jabbing into my lower pallet (gums on the bottom that cover the back ok my teeth. well a part of my gums has this huge bump now, and it hurts soooo bad, i can't even wear my retainer, because if I do it wll only press against the bump more, and make it bigger. PLEASE help me and tell me what this could be, I know i need a new retainer badly, because this one's too small. but i want to know what this weird painful, large bump on my gums is. THANKS!

also- it is located in the back of my bottom front teeth. sorry if it dosn't make much sence, the sore was created from the retainer (plastic part) stabbing into my gum. Please Help!!

it sounds like a blister.
i say stop wearing your retainer untill it goes away.
then go to the dentist and get it checked out and talk about getting a new retainer.

hope i helped:)

If it's too small, it's only natural for your gums to react to the iritation. This is why I didn't wear my bottom retainer.
Go to your ortho as soon as possible. Explain your situation and he/she will loosen it or give you a new one.
It will go when you get a properly fitted one, I promise. Same thing happened to me.

did your orthodontist give you wax? i know thats more for braces, but that could help you
talk to your parents, ask them to take you to the orthodontist. he/she will know what it is and how to prevent it from happening again
