I have an extremely high resting heart rate. The average heart rate is around 100 beats per minute mine is always between 180 and 192. I'm 5'5 and 132 lbs with a body fat percentage of 23. I'm not over weight so that can't be the problem. My blood pressure is 64/92, I believe that's low. My uncle is a nurse and he said I'm on the verge of a heart attack. I'm going to the doctor soon, but does anyone know what could be wrong with me? I'm really concerned.
Additional info, added Saturday November 10 2007, 6:20 pm: I don't drink anything with caffeine in it. I only drink water and milk.. Want to answer more questions in the Health & Fitness category? Maybe give some free advice about: Health? SilentOne answered Saturday November 10 2007, 5:51 pm: Hi,
Could be stimulants... If you drink a lot of coffee, coke (or any brand of cola or soft-drink containing caffeine), tea, or energy drinks - stop for a few days, and see where your heart rate goes.
Energy bars, and chocolate also contain a lot of caffeine.
Besides that, I commend you for booking yourself in to see a doctor, like so many of the people in "agony" who ask questions on here seem incapable of doing before being told ^_^

Many things can have the same symptoms so in effect it could be any number of things (or it could be nothing at all) but there wouldn't really be any real way to tell without testing... at least that is what I believe. I think a visit to your doctor as soon as you can would certainly be a wise choice as he/she may be able to get to the bottom of it and be able to tell you what's going on. Try not to panic yourself or anything in the meantime though since doing so would also not do yourself any good. If you are worried though I would suggest ringing up your doctor and explaining your situation (and the readings you have taken) and asking them to advise you over the phone on what you should do and what's going on. I know that most doctors require you to make an apointment which can be a pain when you have to wait a week or so before they will see you (by which time you're already better anyway!) but if you ring you can explain that you are very concerned and didn't want to wait until you had got in to see them (if your apointment isn't on the same day you call that is).
I do hope though that it's nothing at all and you're fine. Do keep me posted if you can as it would be nice to know. [ ammo's advice column | Ask ammo A Question ]
