I was banned

Question Posted Thursday November 8 2007, 8:24 pm

You said I was banned for being explicit in one of my answers. Apparently, use of the word "penis" is not appropriate for children. However, I searched questions for penis and there were more than 10 pages of questions. The question was asking how to give oral sex, which I do not think is possible to answer without being explicit. I am not overly concerned with being banned for 1 day, however I am very concerned about losing my moderator status for 6 weeks. I have been involved with this site for longer than 20 active moderators, and recently, I have been answering and rating more questions than ever. I love this site, and giving advice in general, but how are we supposed to not be explicit, when "Sex" is the second biggest category? I realize that answering questions about sex will make me ineligible to have the featured column, but I never realized that it would cause me to be banned and lose my moderator status. Also, I reviewed the FAQ's about being banned, and looked though the reasons for being banned. The word explicit is not mentioned once.

I agree. Mods use their powers carelessly and too often. This is not a kids site; every other question is sex-related. If the mods can't handle it, they better quit now before Advicenators gets raided by people who want to be as explicit as possible.
