Umm, I bite my nails all the time. I want to stop but I can't. I've tried using nail polish, and band-aids won't work, they fall off. So is there anything else I can do that won't harm my nails in the process?
thelaura answered Thursday November 8 2007, 8:38 am: If you're willing to spend a bit of money, there are products you can buy which you put onto your nails and when you get the urge to bite them, it leaves a horrible bitter taste in your mouth which makes you stop. Look around for them.
Other tips I have heard which work:
*keep your hands busy.
*Keep your mouth busy (chew gum, suck sweets)
*Squeeze a stress ball if you get the urge
*Bite a jelly bracelet
*Get a manicure - you won't want to bite and ruin your pretty nails!
*Wear lipstick/gloss etc - it makes you more aware of doing it and helps you stop.
Apparently if you stick to it, it doesn't take long to kick the habit.
So good luck. [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
