Working & Anorexia

Question Posted Saturday November 3 2007, 10:07 am

I recently got a job. I was very greatful for being hired, but I realized that it was too much with my Anorexia. I couldn't go to school all day & then go to work all night. Unfortunately, I really feel that I should quit. The thing is, people don't understand how hard it is for me. I'm approximately 118 lbs [I did gain weight] & the work is too much for my body & I don't want it to affect my immune system. My parents are upset that I want to quit because I do need a job, but I don't want it to affect my health. On top of that, I would be working with food & I'm very uncomfortable with that for now. The first few days I came back from work, I weighed myself & actually lost 2 lbs. I can't have that happen right now. Does anyone have any advice?? ideas/opinions?? Should I just not care what people think?? Try finding something else?? Thanks!!

...EAT! lol. working is better than being anorexic...a lot better... maybe you should work on getting RID of your anorexia and eat a lot of fattening foods while you're at work when you're on break or something. i'm 108 lbs. and i'm working at walmart.

if you need a job I would suggest finding another job...but find a new job before you quit the one your at...that way you'll already have a job lined up...also give two weeks notice...if you don't and you use your current job as a reference on future applications they may not give anything good about you.

I work at starbucks and to tell you the truth working in any food or drink cooperation can be very hectic, it is alot of work even though i get paid good money, but i am very healthy, I dont think you should continue your work if you do not like it, because work should be a fun environment not an obligation, talk to your parents tell them you don't feel comfortable working at that place, your parents love you they will surely understand tell them you will find another job, a clothing place is a good idea atleast you are not around food, no job is easy, nothing in life is easy even breathing can get hard sometimes be optimistic you have only one body take care of it, what is money beneficial for if your health is going down the drain.

I hope i helped you
take care
