i went to the doctor for a check up a few weeks ago and got the results back today, and it said that my cholesterol was 217 and triglyceride level was 171. I know that's not good but i really don't know what to do about it. I'm 15 and my cholesterol has been kind of high since i was about 13, but its not like i'm not active or anything. I swim competitively and play softball. My dad's side of my family has a history of high cholesterol so could most of it be hereditary? I mean yes I do eat sugary foods but I think I balance my diet out pretty well since I also eat a lot of fruits and grains. What should I do?

However, there are yoghurts, yoghurt drinks, margerines etc that are designed to lower cholesterol, so you could try them as well. High colesteral can be hereditary so it's good that you want to take action now to reduce your levels.
Before you do anything though, see your doctor, as they need to know what you are planning and can offer support and advice. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
