To make them into an HTML entity like ♥, take the unicode number, put an &#x in front of it and an ; at the end of it. The unicode number of a musical note is U+2669, so its html entity is ♩. Putting that HTML entity almost anywhere will turn it into a musical note; in fact, if you're viewing this on my column, you will see a note.
You can also use alt codes to make special characters, see this list of them: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Put your cursor where you want the special character, hold down alt, and on the keypad(numbers on the right of the keyboard), type the alt code. When you release alt, the character will appear. This method includes less characters, but it works in more places.
-λ Using entities, it appears only on my column.
-λ Using alt-codes, it appears here, but on my column it doesn't look as it should. [ theymos's advice column | Ask theymos A Question ]
