knee aches

Question Posted Thursday October 25 2007, 4:49 am

When I was in cheerleading, over 6 years ago, I had problems with my knees and I could barely bend them. The next year in cheerleading it wasn't as bad but still hurt. I took a 2 year break and I was in dance for 3 years after that. During that time it would hurt every now and then in performances and also when i go to sleep. I haven' done dance in over a year and just from standin on my knees they hurt. The pain is coming from under my knee cap and at the top. In my athleic training class we had to do this clarks grind test where you press down on the knee cap and flex it to feel for grinding and my knee did just that. What could it be?? I know for a fact it's not a torn ligament.
