how do you bargain with the owner to lower the price of an item? and if the item is unmarked?

If the item is unmarked, ask for the price. If they say "$5.00", just say, "Would you take $3.00?" They may say okay, or they may come back with, "How about $4.00?" Then you can decide whether or not to take it at that price. Just don't offer TOO much lower than they're asking... that might insult them. Most people are willing to bargain at yard sales, but some aren't. If they aren't, then you can either pay the original price, or just put the item down and pass on it.

You just offer less. Like you say, "How much is this?" If they say ten, offer like 7 or 8, depending on how much you want to bargain.
