A workout routine is a great idea, I personally love the ones in Seventeen Magazine. They have TONS of workouts that will get you in shape for basketball. I've played basketball all my life and have used these routines many times.
Incase you don't buy it, you can try this below...

"Simple exercises like lunges (both forward and side lunges), squats, and leg lifts. Gyms and sports clubs have resistance machines that can help you tone up specific areas, like your upper and inner thighs. If you’re not sure about proper technique for these exercises, check online or with a trainer to make sure that you are doing them correctly. If you’re feeling especially frisky, you can do an exciting activity like bike riding or inline skating that not only works the legs, but also gives a great cardio workout as well."

If I were you I'd defidently get in a workout routine everyday. I know its hard, but if you really really want to make it then work out a lot. But not just going to the gym, if the gym isn't really your thing, you could run everyday, lift weights practice basketball skilss ect. If you know someone whos not bad at basketball you should totally ask them to teach you everything they know so you'll be pretty good at it. But keep in mindd, normally no one is the best at something their first try. So yeah, you could do situps, pushups, squats, leg ups && also you can look up work out routines you can do at homee on google or something. I hope something helped, good luck on making tryouts! :]
