The first thing you need to to is establish whether or not he likes you, also. If he is obviously NOT interested, it's probably not a good idea to pursue anything...simply because if he initially doesn't like you for you, he isn't worth your trouble.
Lots of people make the mistake of trying to impress that certain person...Don't. Be yourself.
Is he already a friend? If not, strike up a conversation...find out what your mutual interests are, and play off of that; Get to know him.
