Period Question

Question Posted Wednesday October 17 2007, 7:22 pm

I got my period today (Wednesday) and I have a cross country meet @ Brown University on Saturday. The problem is we have a long drive to get up there (5 hours) and I get horrible cramps sometimes. Its an overnighter to top it all off and I dont feel comtrable having my period and sharing a bed. Ive had my period for about 4 years now so its not like its a super out of control flow or anything. I tried tampons and they just dont feel comtrable. I dont know what to do! This makes me not want to go so bad and it sucks. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do? I know that is such a dumb question but I am DESPERATE. Please Help!

i don't like tampons but kotex is the most comtrable tampon and when you go in the trip but a pad on also and wear a tampon to and try midal for the cramps

first of all a warm soak in the tub eases your cramps and an alieve or some kind of pain reliever will help with the pain. be sure to soak at night as water tends to slow you down. wear a pad as often as you can, nobody knows but you and if tampax hurts you may not be inserting them in far enough. that's a common problem. most of all just try to relax and next time you go to your doc tell him you want some pain meds for cramps. he can give you something that really works. i hope you run a great time and try to have fun. granny

Peppermint (and it really does work for me) helps relieve the pains of cramping. It has some calming effect on our hormones and although it won't take away the pain, it won't be as bad. So, just take a couple of mints and wear overnight pads.

Also, if you're uncomfortable about sharing a bed, you might want to take a little extra blanket to wrap yourself around in, just in case you leak, it won't get on the mattress.

Good luck!

well you could use like midol or something--ibuprofen! cheap and it works. it can help with cramps. and as for the ride and over nighter. maybe double up on pads. like make a kinda diaper thingy. it works. you dont bleed through or nothing like that, unless your period is really freaky like though. but yeah i hope i helped! and good luck at you cross country meet!!
