How long..

Question Posted Monday October 15 2007, 9:24 pm

How many years does it usually take for your period to become regular? I started my period the summer before 8th grade and now i'm in 9th and it's still irregular. Does it take a couple years for it to become regular? And one time my period was extremely light and lasted for about 5 days and I mean REALLY light I didn't even need a pantyliner or anything because it was so light, is that weird?

it takes about 2-3 years to regulate, but sometimes longer.
also, excersize can throw off your period; during my field hockey seasons, i need to wear like a pantyliner for only one day and then its over, which is yea really wierd

so youve only had it for year so its totally normal for them to be really irregular! you dont need to worry about it =]

I think the length of time it takes to become regular differs from girl to girl, and probably hormone levels and what not. I had a friend who got her first couple periods then didn't get one for another three months. I don't think its really anything to worry about at this point, but if its really bothers you theres always the pill. It makes your period almost freakishly regular and in some cases clears up acne. My friend got hers because she had two periods a month, but I'm sure it works the other way around.

I seriously doubt theres anything wrong with you though =P so you shouldn't need the pill or anything. If you're seriously bothered by it you could ask your doctor or go see a gynecologist.
