When it comes to taking pictures; it's like I can't be captured in a positive way on film...I'm comfortable with the way I look, so that's not an issue. I just don't understand why my skin is so pale no matter the lighting. In general, how could I make my pictures less bland and have more of a presence in my photos? Thank you!

Smile naturally & don't try too hard to "pose" or anything like that. Also, if you wear foundation make sure it's the right shade (you probably got tanner over the summer) and the paleness of makeup sometimes shows up more in photographs.

Mug shots for the school yearbook? Good luck- those always look weird. You aren't the only one. The photographer insists on a pose and a forced smile.
Every day photos? Like taken with a personal camera? Try not to have a forced expression on your face. Make it natural. Don't look directly at the camera lens, so it has a more natural look to it.
Your presence isn't your hair or your make-up. It is your inner beauty coming out by being completely natural and not posed or with forced expression.
I don't know if that helps, but I hope it makes some sort of sense. :)
