Gyno help!

Question Posted Friday September 28 2007, 7:52 pm

Um... I keep being told to go to the gynos by some of my friends. I'm 18 and in college and I don't feel like I can tell my parents because they think I'll just end up having sex with people. Is there a way that I can go to the gynos without my parents finding out? I know that they send bills home and if they find one about me and the gynos they'll know I went. What should I do? ...Next semester when I fly out to see my boyfriend, I think we might have sex. We've been talking about it for quite a while now... But I still wonder about the whole gyno thing. If you would just help me out here. I'd really appreciate it!

Serenity

I'm in college too. They recommend that all girls go to see a gyno at least once by the time they reach 21 just for the usual checkup reasons. Ask your family doctor if now would be a good time to see a gyno and if they say yes (and they probably will) then you can say it was recommended by your doctor. :)

Go to planned parenthood.com and look for a location near you.

This will help you alot. You can get birth control through them. You can also probably find a respectable gynocologist in your area through them. Theyre the best place to start for you, because theyre going to be alot more patient with helping you figure things like a regular gyno and health issues and such out.

You don't have to see a gyno for birth control or the exam for one. You can see any family doctor.
Most are listed as general practitioner in the phone book.

You could also go to your local planned parenthood or health department. Most are low cost or free. No need for parents to know a thing. Check the phone book. :)

If you might have sex, it's important to go to the gyno's. Talk to them about their privacy policies, but I'm pretty sure they can't release your information to any third parties, including your parents.
