Is it possible to bring up a grade of 28 (or lower) up to a passing grade (70) in about 5 days? You see, I have NEVER EVER in my ENTIRE life failed a class. Now, all of a sudden, I have a 28 in my English class and a week from tomorrow is our final exam in that class. Well, if my mom sees a failing grade, she will surely kill me. I am devastaed because I have done nothing different in this class. You see, the teacher has a reputation for losing papers and failing students who should have passed..Well thats not the case with me. My problem is the work. We are doing research papers and we have had to turn in notecards and I have been really REALLY bad about not turning them in on time. I just cant get them done when she sets the time for. But yeah, so now I am going to fail her class and I have mixed emotions. I DO NOT fail classes. Thats not me. But I have no idea what to do, I feel like talking to the teacher is a waste of time because she doesnt care what my grade is, it doesnt affect her in any way. But I cannot just fail. I just CANNOT! So what do I do? I am so dumbfounded. Is there anything I really can do or is it MY fault? My friends told me I should talk to the principal but I feel like she will just tell me its my fault and I have to deal with it. But I cant handle that. :( HELP!
Tell the person in your guidance office that you know the likilhood you will not pass the course is high. Let them know about the teacher's reputation and that you have had all sorts of trouble completing/understanding work.
Offer to hire a tutor and try to take the exam. Likely the guidance office will allow you to drop the course if you promise to attend a summer school session.
Come clean with your parents about your mark now and not five days from now. Talk to them about how hard the class was and the homework and the teacher's reputation and that you tried but should have done things differently and regret that.
They'll be more understanding if you tell them the truth now rather than them seeing your final mark later. I would only take the final if you know what percentage its worth and that you can pass it with flying colors.
There is no sense otherwise as you might even go farther down for flunking it. See your guidance counselor on Monday morning for advice on what to do. Failing won't kill you but it might teach you skills on how to manage a course this difficult in the future.
You can easily pick this course up in summer school and hire a tutor to get you through it. You'll also have a new teacher and more time to handle things.
The BIGGEST mistake you made was not approaching your teacher at all or getting a tutor at the first instance of trouble. Getting from 28 to 70 in five days is not going to happen for you unless that exam is worth a hell of a lot. See what guidance says.
At this point the teacher will blame your poor showing on you for not asking for help when you needed it. The principal will take her side but its the guidance counselor who can get you out of that class without penalty and in to summer school instead. They can also talk to your parents and let them know you reached a solution with them so you didn't fail.

I've passed a class and come back from having a 12 percent before, but it was because I didn't do a lot of the homework...all I had to do was turn it in for half credit. But it looks like your teacher is like that =/
If you do have any missing work, and she'll take it, then do that though.
Also ask the teacher for extra credit. Most teachers keep around little assignments for students interested. OR better yet - email her. Most schools have student to teacher email systems. That way you get to say all the things you need to say without getting interrupted and you edit what you say. You can explain what you had trouble with, and express a genuine(but not desprate ^^;) interest in passing the class. Then ask for extra credit. Most teachers(especially female ones) have trouble turning away from that. Just make sure the email is polite and well worded.
I also suggest you ace your final exam. Tests like those are usually stacked - they contribute to a certain percentage of your ENTIRE grade. So if it counts for 20, 30, 40 percent of the entire grade for that class then that should give you a nice boost too.
