So, I'm 15/f and a sophmore in highschool and there's this class I just HATE to death. I think I would actually prefer to die a million times in the most painful way rather than have to take it. The teacher hates me, and I'm the only one she picks on, the course is SO difficult, and the room is just full of bitches with nothing better to do than look at me all period and gossip.
It's all really overwhelming. So much, I got a panic attack today before I went in it, but I hid it the best I could. I also can't stop thinking about how monday will go. The dean at my school told me there's a big chance I might have to stay there, but I dont think i have the strength or will power, and I feel like doing something really stupid.
I know there's not really much anyone can do, or say, but I'm just the weakest person right now, and I dont know how to handle the situation. It's just eating me up inside. I need something just to keep me going. I'll take any kind of advice. ThanX in advance.
One of the first things you probably should do is figure out why you have such a hard time in the class.
If it's simply a conflict with the teacher, you should look into trying to transfer into the same class that's being taught by another teacher. If that's not an option (like they're the only teacher for that class), then you will need to sit down and figure out what you dont like about the teacher and why. You said that she picks on you in class, but why? Do you often not have your homework done or do you "zone out" during class and not pay attention? Perhaps talking with a school counselor about the issues with her could help.
As for the course beng difficult, is there a lower level of the same subject that you can take first, so you'd be more confident and this class wouldnt be as hard? What about a tutoring or student help program? Try finding a friend who has taken the class before or is good in the subject to study with and help you.
As for the people in your class, my guess is that they arent staring at you all the time--you're simply uncomfortable in the situation, so it seems like they are. If they truly are staring at you and talking about you, you have a couple options--you can either shrug it off and ignore it or you can confront them about it. If you do choose to confront them, try to do it in a non-hostile way, or you'll likely make the situation worse.
I wish you the best of luck, and know that you arent a weak person for having trouble in a class--you're simply a normal person who, just like everyone else, has things they are good at and things that they struggle with. [ Isealdor's advice column | Ask Isealdor A Question ]
