Question Posted Friday September 14 2007, 5:18 pm

Can anyone please tell me why H.S coaches are so mean?(like making us run, yelling at us when we do something wrong ect.) and like ALWAYS want to win games??? Cause i just want to know like what their "motives" are for acting so mean.

Believe me, you're lucky when your coaches are like this. They want you to be your best. They yell at you to push you to be the best athlete out there. My 6th grade basketball coach was exactly like this, and we won every single game. My 7th grade coach was all nice and "fair", and we lost every single game. Every single one. Sad right? Believe me, they want you to do your best, and one day you'll be really happy that they pushed you so hard.

They only do this for your sake, i know it seems like they especially pick on you but they are just trying to get you to do your best. Make sure no matter how mean they are being that you always make eye contact and say yes sir no sir yes ma'am no ma'am. Remember that the more respect you give them the more respect they will have for you. If they are yelling at you to run faster just simply tell them that this is the best you can do if it is. I remember when i was in 7th grade, i had a p.e coach, and we were running a timed mile. I had strep throat that day, and had a raging head-ache with my throat sore. I also have asthma and could barely breathe for what she was making me do. When i finally finished, she started to yell at me and i made eye contact the whole entire time and no matter how mean she was to me i respected her. and then she went wayyyy easier on me and was just nicer to everyone because she was in a better mood. Hope i helped!!
